Vacuum Heat Treating
Vacuum heat treating is crucial to super-alloy rejuvenation and qualified repair procedures. In order to decrease unwanted reactions and contamination with ambient air, our vacuum furnaces are operated in a protective atmosphere which is evacuated to high vacuum and partial pressures that are compatible with specific metals and processes, then back-filled and cooled with inert gas. Our vacuum heat treating service is assisted by three high-vacuum turbo-cooled furnaces, an electric furnace and all the necessary fixtures. Our heat treatment processes include:
- Heat tinting
- Annealing prior to weld and machine repairs
- Stress relieving after weld and cold repairs
- Brazing
- Solutioning of undesirable phases carbides
- Controlling grain size
- Precipitation hardening
- Diffusion of coating
- Closing voids and porosity
- Aging
